A few of the digital challenges I've enjoyed getting stuck into.

Data platform · UX & delivery lead

Marine Data Exchange

The challenge

The Crown Estate's Marine Data Exchange had become a hugely valuable source of seabed survey data, but a decade of growth had stretched the original site. There was more data, more functionality and more need for people working in offshore wind and marine planning to find the right information quickly.

What I did

I led the UX and UI overhaul, bringing together stakeholder interviews and user testing to rethink the information hierarchy and introduce a new spatial search feature. We also designed a new backend so The Crown Estate's team could keep the data accurate and current. Working with Ascent on the build, we used Hotjar and GA4 to keep learning from real behaviour and refining the experience.

Northumbrian Water customer platform

The challenge

Northumbrian Water's website was out of date and too many customers were still having to call the contact centre to get answers they should have been able to find online.

What I did

I led UX and design across a new customer and corporate website, working with Wipro on the build. We used Kanban to prioritise the journeys creating the most demand for the contact centre, getting ideas in front of users early and using what we learned to keep improving them.

Homepage redesign · design lead

Nestlé corporate homepage

The challenge

At the time, Nestlé's global homepage was built around a rotating product carousel — useful for merchandising, but it wasn't doing enough to tell the wider corporate story. The client was also focused on improving its Bowen Craggs ranking, and the homepage needed to work harder against that benchmark.

What I did

I led the design stage, running workshops with stakeholders to agree what the homepage needed to achieve, then restructured it so the company's strategy had clear, prominent placement on the page for the first time, with a distinct, more engaging area beneath it where the many Nestlé brands could still be showcased.

ArcelorMittal corporate website

ArcelorMittal

The challenge

ArcelorMittal was rebuilding its outdated Sitecore website, but by the time I joined the project it had run into difficulties and confidence in the relationship was low. My role was to help get both the delivery and the client relationship back on track.

What I did

I focused on rebuilding trust alongside leading the technical migration to Umbraco 8. We rethought the site around six content pillars that connected back to ArcelorMittal's "inventing smarter steels for a better world" brand promise, and used Umbraco's editing and clipboard functionality to make everyday content management much simpler for the editorial team.

LGIM workplace platform

The challenge

Legal & General Investment Management manages 9.3 million square feet of office space across 93 UK locations, but didn't have a digital platform of its own. Occupiers and prospective tenants needed a better way to find and compare space, while LGIM needed an identity that could stand apart from L&G's.

What I did

I led delivery of a new Umbraco 11 platform with a distinct LGIM identity, built around an intuitive space-search experience and considered micro-interactions. We then extended it into a modular CMS toolkit, allowing LGIM to create branded microsites for individual properties while keeping them on the same platform.

APEX Reading microsite

The challenge

Once the LGIM platform and modular toolkit were established, the next challenge was seeing whether it could work for an individual asset. APEX, a flexible workspace in Reading, needed its own identity and a site that could speak directly to the businesses considering the space.

What I did

I led delivery of the APEX site using the multisite toolkit we'd built for LGIM. I ran stakeholder interviews and visited the site in Reading to understand the space, its tenants and what made it distinctive, then used that insight to shape the redesign. It was a good example of the toolkit doing what it was designed to do: creating something distinctive without starting again from scratch.
